Urbanization Significantly Affects Pan-Evaporation Trends in Large River Basins of China Mainland

The causes of the pan-evaporation decline have been debated, and few researches carried out on possible effect local land use cover change regional pan-observation data series. In this paper, urbanization estimate trends over 1961–2017 was examined for series 331 urban stations, applying a previously developed dataset reference in seven large river basins China mainland. difference (transformed to anomaly percentage) between stations were negative statistically significant all basins, indicating that significantly reduced pan-evaporation. urbanization-induced trend whole study region −2.54%/decade stations. Except Yellow River Basin upper Yangtze Basin, effects other five country are significant, with mid low reaches Songhua registering largest −4.08%/decade −4.06%/decade, respectively. Since average across half not is dominant factor observed This finding would deepen our understanding basin-wide last decades.
